I just can't help knitting them, this was done with wool received in a wool swap on another forum, modelled by a self conscious Coco!

This was based on a pattern from the Creative Living forum and for which I give grateful thanks!
I use the same format for all my hats, changing needle sizes and number of cast on stitches depending on the wool and head size. A lot is guess work but I've now got a pretty good idea about what works for which situation.
This was the original pattern

Cast on 90 sts, knit until the required depth - 6"+ or so. The brim will roll as it is all stocking stitch, but that's part of the design.
Decrease as follows:

1st round: K13, K 2 tog, rep to end
2nd round:Knit
3rd round: K12, K 2 tog, rep to end
4th round:Knit

Continue in this way until 48 sts, then dec every round to 6 sts - you will need to change to dp needles before then.
Cut yarn and draw up through remaining stitches.

I changed this and knitted in rib for 12 cm, then stocking stitch for 17 cm. I used larger needles to create a looser stitch for the slouch effect so started off with 66 stitches instead of 90.
Hope that makes sense, just shout if it doesn't!  Smile
