Welcome to a demonstration of how to make a Christmas Card.
Step 1
Materials for this project are:
Cutting mat (Optional)
A6 card - used with open end downwards.
Scissors
Double sided sticking tape
Brown Faber Castile marker pen
Gold '3 Wise men' peel off
Copper brown paper for mounting
Gold card for sticking the peel off on to.
Hessian for decoration.
Sharp decoupage prong to lift the peel off.
Paper trimmer.
Step 2
The peel off I used has 2 pictures on it, so cut it in half. Then colour over the entire picture with the Faber castile brown marker pen (used for overhead projectors - it is a special pen that covers over the gold peel off).
Step 3
Carefully peel the peel off away from it's backing using the sharp prong (prongy thing) and place it on top of the gold card, as straight as you can! If you line the picture up with 2 already straight outside edges it will be easier for you to cut round the remaining 2 edges.
Step 4
Trim round the picture, leaving a small border on the outside.
Step 5
Peel some of the stars from the background and dot around the 3 Wise Men.
Step 6
Turn the picture onto it's back and place 2 lines of double sided tape down the edges.
Start to peel off the backing but only peel off 2 inches and then make some 'wings'. It makes it easier to line up the picture onto the next piece of card.
Step 7
When you are satisfied that you are lined up properly, peel the tape away and stick to the copper paper. If you line up your picture with 2 outside edges of the copper paper you will have less to measure up and cut out. Leave a small border so the copper shows through.
Step 8
Place your picture on top of the hessian, to use it as a rough guide, to measure how much you need. Leave enough border around it so you can fray the edges and still leave a border round it. Put some sticky tape on the side you want as the reverse.
Step 9
Stick your hessian to the A6 card, making sure that the opening is at the bottom.
Step 10
Tape up your picture around all the edges. Stick onto the hessian.
You don't have to use this peel off. Any Christmassy one would do. In the past I have also used angel hair or mulberry paper instead of the hessian. If anyone can't get hold of the materials used please contact me and I can get them for you.

Hmm, I had best get a move on and try to make some cards for Christmas. I am going to limit it my home made ones to my favourite people, as I do not have enough time to make 40-50, the rest I will buy from Deaf/Blind UK.
I would love to see an enlarged photo of your three wize men card is that possible.
Copper on hessian - what a nice glow that must give.
I like that, the copper and hessian are a good combination I don't expect I'll have time to make my own cards this christmas, but I might make some for close family and then, like Lottie, buy the rest from a charity.
