Medicinally, the seed oil is used to treat dry skin. The leaf and stem can be used to make an astringent facial cream.
Fresh young leaves can be added to salad and mature leaves can be cooked like spinach. The roots have an earthy nutty flavour and can be cooked like parsnips.
