It's lovely to hear from the parents with young children but how do other parents cope when their 'kids' are growing up and away from them?
We have 4 children now aged 24, 23, 21 and 17 and even now I don't like to arrange holidays that don't include them - even though they don't want to come with us.
When OH and I drive away from the house and leave tyhem in charge of the house, animals and business I can't wait to be back again. _________________ www.overthegate.co.uk |

| The age gap is similar to mine Kaz, 27, 24, 22 ,20. On the very rare occasion we have gone away I've had no problem leaving everything behind as they all hold responsible jobs and have been well trained at home. I view them as adults now and remember being those ages myself, perfectly capable of taking care of things. Of course the place will be messier but they always have a major clear up before we get home! |

It isn't that I don't trust them - they run the house, the animals and the business while we are away. I just enjoy being with them and feel that they should be coming away with us. _________________ www.overthegate.co.uk |

I know exactly what you mean, they drive me completely insane when they are around, but if they go away I worry about them and if we go away I feel guilty. Even though I know they will be rejoicing in their freedom!
For some of us, this Motherhood milarky doesn't seem to get any easier. |

ladies you have to cut the apron strings
they have to build a life for themselves......
think of it as another phase in your own lives, one you can really enjoy
it's not the end of your life, it's the beginning when the kids grow up..... |

When we go away I worry too,
That the house will still be in one piece when we get back! |

I cut the apron strings then they all tied them up again! As some of you know we will all be sharing a home but on an equal basis, adults working together while they build their own lives.
I enjoy anytime away without them, equally I enjoy their company. I didn't miss them at all (or worry) when they were all away at Uni so I'm not sure how to define my relationship with them, everyone's different I suppose. |
