As mentioned T had a dermatology appointment to day, as we drove in to the carpark of the hospital she said 'I don't like this place it makes me feel sick'!!!

After today I quite understand.

We got to the department to find a note saying they where running 40 mins behind schedule!!!!!!! As I said to T, that's to be expected.

This is not my big rant just an observation....... I am a people watcher and always sit where I can see, so we where sat opposite the main door to the department and you know those alcoholic gel things you have to use going in and out of the department, I would say 9 out of 10 patients used them and 2 out of 10 NHS staff  Shocked  scary or what!!

Rant....
went into appointment and was seen by a visiting dermatologist consultant (from America) explained a potted history of T's problem, severe B.O, 'whats that' she said (I should have walked out then!) the nurse explained to her, said we'd used some strong deodrants, during the day also T has to use deodrant wipes to keep the BO at bay, she has a very nasty itchy rash etc etc

Dr said she had to use ONLY soap and water NO deodrant and the cream she was going to give us.

I said I don't think you understand and explained again about the fact that T could clear a space in a room of 10 -15ft diameter and how embarressing it was for a teenager within her group of peers.

Dr repeated she had to use ONLY soap and water NO deodrant and the cream she was going to give us.

T had gone very quiet had head down and was not giving eye contact, I said 'I don't think your listening to us' repeated all the above again and she said 'I don't know how I can help you, BO is in the genes'!!!!

Well theres nobody else who suffers with it in our family!!!

I should have walked out then and there, why didn't I Rolling Eyes  I don't know probably because I was brought up to not be rude!

What I should have said, and you always think of these after the event is ' well we are obviously talking to the wrong person'!

Instead we came away with prescription for cream and as we stepped outside the door T just burst into tears, 'what am I going to do I can't not use deodrant mummy!!

So after a bar of chocolate or two, and a promise that I would do everything I could to get this sorted, I took her back to college, went to the GP's made another appointment and will ask for second opinion to Bath Hospital we are fortunate to be slap dab in the middle and can usually choose which hospital to go to, we tend to opt for Swindon as its easier to get to!!!

So two bad experiences for T in less than a month what is the NHS coming too!!!!!

What a shame poor lass, I'm afraid I avoid NHS wherever possible now.

Is there a Herbal Medicine teaching hospital near you. I think I mentioned this before, but some places run student clinics where consultations are free, you just pay for the medicine. I think it works out about £6 per week depending on the treatment. They allow time for a full history, taking into account GPs, hospitals etc advice and look at the whole body, including diet, if you know what I mean. They would really listen to both you and T, might be worth a try.

i thought there was a medical condition involved here, don't know why i know that but i do

or it may just be a hormonal problem, don't know how old T is but that could be the issue

i think the doctor was evading the issue from what you say

might be worth cruising the internet for an answer.....doctors aren't infallible after all nor are they the font of ALL medical knowledge
