Well as quite few know here I DONT have credit/debit cards at all ...
I use a "Link" card and have a seriously basic building sociaty account.
Me and Richie recently had a few quids after 2 years of pure hell/carp and legal wrangling sent to us in form of a cheque from my soliciters after my fathers death.
We have spent a fair few quid on practical stuff. We had to date nothing. We left literally everything with our ex partners and we have been through "the mill" abit as some may say.
Last week "Your Bank Will Not Allow This Service" popped up on every cashpoint I tried to use... we thought we where skint again...
Got an on screen ballance and money in my account...
Phoned my building sociaty today and there is a stop on my card
As I say this is NOT a Debit or Credit Card, but it seems I have been "cloned" from a flippin cash point even though I check the "slots" all the time (lived in coventry for years oldest trick in book!) we have been done for £600 in total that we are aware of now!!!
Thankfully my building sociaty more than helpful on this occassion are re funding in full within the next 24hrs and sending me a new card out today.
Rich is having to check his account now aswell because of the cashpoints we use it's a right pain in the 'arris tbh and I know this con and there musta been a new one out as I would have spotted it!
As I say the Building Sociaty knew the score totally no problem NO argument but I did question the fact "if you knew it was a cloned card, why did your cashpoint issue out MY money" answer "I'm sorry Mrs. Roberts... NO COMMENT!"
its not just cash points that clone cards. K was in the final weeks of Uni and had a digital showcase where she had to enlarge some of her photos, (not cheap)so went and extended her student overdraft on Friday, went to get the money Monday and it had gone!!!!!!!!
She was frantic and charged straight to the bank and they where brilliant, although the foreign named person that took her money left a trail so will be being prosecuted!
Scary though! _________________ "If we reduce the amount of stuff we allow to accumulate in our lives, we won't have to organise it"

Glad you got your money back Morlan, the banks seem to pretty fast about refunding.
It happened to my Father as well, to the tune over over £1000. It nearly finished him off (in his 80s) but fortunately this bank were also brilliant and his money was refunded within 24hrs. He doesn't use cash machines (frightened of being watched and robbed), hadn't used Internet shopping so the only place it could have happened was within the 3 shops that he used. Now he feels unsafe everywhere, has said "stuff it, I'm as well shopping online, at least I can't get mugged.......................
