Well I left cubicle behind 4 years or so ago, it has been a rocky road, full of really hard work and failure after failure Rolling Eyes Confused But at least they were my failures and sooner or later if you refuse to give in and keep trying, you find something that works!

In my case you are on it now, a forums system that has turned profitable Cool
meanwhile in those same 4 years my wife has been promoted up the low pay ladder into ever more stressful jobs, which still pay cr*p and can only succeed in making money for someone else.

Though I'm still only earning burgher flipping money I know whose shoes I'd rather be in.

Your own business represents freedom Smile

I was thinking of ways to start my own business as a herbalist whilst keeping my overheads down and I think that doing home visits may be a viable option, I have to look into licences etc. but i could do it in the evenings which would allow me to earn money during the day. What do people think of this?

I like it!
You would have to be careful about personal safety though.
When you start at the Seiner School they have a school notice which is given to every family, either as paper or by email, known as the Tuesday Notice. Anyone can advertise in this, it used to be £2 a week. If you could combine your gardening day and your Edinburgh day with evening visits, that would save you mileage but keep you within the more affluent Edinburgh belt, and the advertising would be very targeted because the Steiner community are quite pro alternative remedies.

Thats a good idea about the Steiner Advertising n, i'll definately look into that one. As for personal safety, I guess I would need to take an obliging family member with me
