--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesse and I are going to put together a project for May, the beaded bookmark. Anyone is very welcome to join in, I will edit this post to include what you need to get and instructions will follow later. Photo's etc to follow when I get all the bits
You will need....
(a selection of beads, beading wire, suede thong, tweezers (makes easier for bending wire), a sewing needle to pierce suede thong, bead caps to fit chosen beads (optional but tidies up where last bead meets thong), spacers (optional) and pendants (optional).

I think it's going to be fun Becki, they're quick and easy to make and the ones I make now will be stashed away for christmas presents

I am looking forward to it. i.e. length of cord or thong etc. An idiots guide for me.

You will need to have enough length of cord/thong to let the beads hang down under the book.

the bookmarks in my photo have thong at 45cm, but as becki says it depends on what size book you'd like to use it in. The ones I've made fit nicely in the average size paperback novel type book. the thong I bought off ebay was sold in 1m lengths and they come in lots of different colours. oh, and they also come in different thicknesses, the one I'm using is a 1/4 cm thickness.

Well I've unpicked some of the bookmark that Jesse sent me, and I have ordered my bits and bobs to get started on my own. When all my bits get here I will post a step by step photo thingy (Or I'll mail it to Jesse and get her to do it )
It really is very easy and I'm looking forward to my treasure parcels arriving
Is anyone else going to give it a go?

go on then. I'll have a go. (hmm - sister's birthday soon!)
I knew there was something else I meant to look for in charity shops - nice beady necklaces, etc to cut up and reassemble!
D - have a look further down this section for the "bead book mark" thread.

Hmm, all the beads I have are 120 miles south of where I am...
I can probably get my dad to bring them up next time he visits. My mum had a 'bead loom', and made a few pretty things with it.

Sister has informed me she has everything I need, I'm fixing her laptop so we'll do a barter!
Do we post pictures in May when we've finished?

looking forward to this Becki, I could do with a couple more for myself as I seem to keep giving them away as gifts, the ones I make this time are mine!

Was 'back home' this weekend, but couldn't find the beads! Looks like I won't be joining in
Small possibility my dad can find them, though he can never remember where anything else is, so why would he with these?!
Ah well, if the worst comes to the worst, I'll do it *next* May.

We can supply bookmark kits at say £200K each. That'll get us moving house quicker
Seriously. PM Becki if you want parts as she's going to put in another order of beads by the looks of things so you could wrap up two orders in one.

I have spent a gorgeous morning making bookmarks today. I will write up the demo by the weekend, promise I got a bit carried away and ended up making several, so ran out of time. I just adore them!

I almost finished mine. Did most of it yesterday evening - using shoe lace, garden wire (with green stuff stripped off - the only thing my dad taught me about electrical stuff!), some thread and the beads. I couldn't work out what to do with the end bit of the wire, so I made it into a feature and made all all twizzly and pretty! Mr Aqui thought it looked really good. I shall post a pic when it's finished.
We also made some paper beads - Mr Aqui had his concentration face on and seemed to rather enjoy it. We used wrapping paper - I found the thin cheap stuff didn't work very well (it kept breaking and stuck to my match stick!)

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in a bracelet demo, I have been very busy with the house, fete, orders etc. I will see what I can do when the fete is over if needed.
