help needed please.

I have been trying to be a good girl and copy all my photos to discs. I have a variety CDR and CDRW different makes etc etc. Anyway for some unknown reason to me sometimes my comp recognises there is a new disc in the RW drawer and sometimes it doesn't it tells me to put one in when there is already one there.
Why?

Some blank discs are duff so they are read as used. I throw them away and put another disc in. Good quality blank disc spindles don't have as many "duffs" as the cheapies.  Smile

I don't know if this is an option, but I got fed up of CDs of my photos, so bought an external drive instead. Or a USB pen thingy - what are they called?
