--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've received some bright orange wooden flowers, about 5cm across, with flat backs and a green half sphere in the centre. They're about 2cm deep in total, but very light. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with them? Unfortunately, I don't think they're suitable for very small children as the centre bit could be pulled off. However, I've come up with one reasonable idea so far: Name signs for children's doors.

When I sell these the profits will go to Macmillan Cancer Relief, so I also need to figure out where and how to sell them...

Anyway, let me know any thoughts!

I'd post a picture if I had the faintest clue how.

ebay is a good place for selling crafted items, or you could try asking at a local farm shop if they'd be happy to stock some of your items and take a cut of whatever is sold, if it's for charity they might be happy to let you have some shop space for free. Our local farm shop stocks quite a few handcrafted things which is lovely.

To post pictures here have a look at this thread http://news2share.forumup.co.uk/v...c.php?t=330&mforum=news2share and if you still have trouble you can always email me (jesse@new2share.co.uk) the photos and I'll post them here for you.

Bedroom door signs sounds like a good idea. I received my "eggs for sale" sign today, it's a shaker style sign and it has flat wooden cutouts making up the design. I'll post a photo later, OH has the camera at work today. Perhaps the flowers would be nice for a little sign saying "I'm in the garden", or something along those lines.

I am in the garden is a good idea.

Knock on the side gate

All sorts of things like that capture the imagination and people will buy. I would love to see some photos too. Maybe we can come up with more ideas.

Row markers for up the allotment -

hmmm will have to think

That's a good idea. I could possibly repaint a couple of the flowers different colours, as well. If these are to go on a gate or something outside, I'd have to make sure they're fairly weatherproof. So, I'll find some suitable bits of wood some time and have a go at writing with a soldering iron, maybe.

Thanks for the link to info about posting pics, as well.

They actually look much more orange than this:

What do you think would be a nicer effect for plaques, engraved with neat letters (from template, my dad has relevant equipment), or hand written burned in? For that matter, I think you can do hand written engraving with his machine too.

Yay, my first ever post with a pic Smile

well done with posting a picture I'm not sure what would look better, I guess it might be an idea to do a sample of both and you can decide from there, the flowers look charming and I'm sure will look good on a sign.
