I'm from South Africa. I came across your forum looking for a sewing forum, lol. It looks like you've got a warm atmosphere going here, so I decided to join.
I was actually looking for a thread telling me where everyone is from, but no such luck. Am I the only one from South Africa?

To be honest, I have been doing counted x stitch for a while, but last night my fiance surprised my with a new sewing machine. I have no idea how to use it, so now I have to learn. I'll be asking for advice a lot. Smile

I'm clueless with machines, but it's an Empisal Dress Maker 270D. I have been studying the manual and the dvd all day. At least I now know how to thread the machine, Laughing

Do you have this machine where you are? It wasn't that expensive. I saw it in an advertising leaflet for one of our discount stores, so I said to Marius it would be nice to one day get a machine so I can shorten my pants myself, no need to pay someone else to do it anymore.
So he decided to surprise me. I'm quite excited to start trying it out. Will probably start learning to work on it tomorrow.
