A beautiful morning (pics)I drove up the valley for the papers this morning. It was SO beautiful. Here's the view upstream from the footbridge over the river:
And the view downstream:

Certainly no neighbours, unless you count the sheep and wildlife! I think it's on for about £300K, but this "info" is via my boozy neighbour Jim, who has been know to exaggerate a touch! Gutting wouldn't be necessary, as everything has rotted already . . . We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area - it really is stunning - and a hard act to follow when we finally downsize . . .

ouch, that's a lot! how much land comes with the house?

I went for a walk too, I'm going to put more photos on my blog, but here's a couple:
The fountain on the small lake at Roundhay park, looking lovely with rainbows in it.
I'd quite like to live in the house on this photo, but the one from yours looks even better, BB!
It was amazing how these birds were sitting there in a row. Every now and then, one would decide to displace another! A bit silly, because there was a space at either end of the row. On a less populated day, you could play connect four!
It was wonderfully warm in the sunshine, so long as you were out of the wind. Down by the bottom lake it was pretty chilly, but still a lovely day. And my snowdrops are peeking through!

Brilliant photos Haize - loved the birds - how did you manage that?! and the rainbow fountain is lovely.
That old farmhouse near me used to have about 100 acres with it, but then lost it to a certain boozy tenant farmer who claimed squatters' rights or whatever (never took his animals off the land anyway). The house is in a really bad way - already gutted inside as back of the roof is off and all ceilings/floors/staircase rotted away . . . Such a shame. It stands in about 2 acres (according to Jim) but it's not grazing land or anything and only recently been cleared so you can see the buildings. Dark gloomy little gully with a stream running through it.
Here's the front door . . .
You'd probably be better off trying to get land and putting one of these up:
This is where my egg man lives!

Oh, I want that house so much, BB
I can't help it, it is my family's fault: every time we were on a walk and saw a tumble-down old building, they'd call it a "des res", and we'd talk about how nice it could be...
The birds were quite happily just sitting there, by the way. I had plenty of time to take a few shots of them as I walked closer. I'm on the land, incidentally

There were geese that kept "going off", making an absolute racket, the guls had a bit of a go too, but not so much, and walking through the wooded areas, there was so much bird song it was amazing!
I've not yet mastered walking on water, I'm stuck at custard...
