Lovely pictures. We used to have lizards and slow worms in our Southampton garden when I was growing up and I learned to handle them (some children were terrified!) We lived on the edge of an abandoned brickworks and there were lots of the same down there, as good habitat for them. Various newts in the ponds too (where they had dug clay for the bricks). You brought back some memories . . .

a very rare sand lizard,i saw it in a sanddune on the south coast.
