AdoptionWonder if anyone can give me a few pointers please.
I've recently found out that I have a 20yr old granddaughter, who was (I think) adopted at birth. As you can imagine, this came as a bit of a shock!!
It transpires that my oldest son...he was 15 at the time....got my (then) brother's girfriend's daughter pregnant. My brother's girlfriend was a tad psychotic (read VERY), hence one of the reasons I knew nothing about this.......plus the fact that there were a shedload of other issues about at the time.
Anyway, I would love to be able to have contact with my granddaughter but have absolutely no idea how to go about doing this.
Has anyone any ideas for me please??

Go to genesreunited as a starting place. There are some fantastic people on there who have helped to sort out adoption finds.
I think the board you would look on is "trying to find" only put a message on one message board as they can get a bit stroppy if you cross the boards but they are very helpful. Just give as much info as you can without giving email ads or phone numbers obviously.

Awww blimey Aggy must have been a right shock for you after all this time!
I don't have a clue about situations like this but a friend of mine ages ago got allot of good advice and contact numbers for groups that helped find her bio dad from the CAB.

I understand that Libby.....just wanted to let her know that she has family should she wish to find them.

I think its wonderful, and I wish you all the luck in the world in finding her. I have a grandaughter in Spain, who my daughter had adopted, she is about 15 now. maybe one day I will find her. do you know her name ?

I have 2 names to choose from going by genesreunited........we'll see how it goes....am not going to rush it!!

I think I mentioned before that I'm adopted. Please also think about the fact that not only may she not want to be found but she might not even know she's adopted.
None of my birth family have ever bother contacting me but i did do some digging onhce and found out that I have 4 half brothers and sisters around somewhere and got the impression that my Mother was a bit 'Loony tunes' (explains alot already) I never went any further.
I hope it turns out well for you x

I had thought about her not knowing she was adopted.....am treading very carefully.
