Oooer, Mrs, don't know what he is but with a bit of bling he could be the "Mr T" of the caterpillar world (for those that watched/remember The A Team)

Hmmmm... According to my identification card bassed on the fact it is rather hairy,
looks quite small,
has a red head the closest I can find is a Glanville Fritillary...
Although if it was I would have thought it would have been me putting the picture on as it says they're from the Isle of Wight but that was in 2002 & it know things are working their way north to England etc...
But I would suggest it was one of the fritillarys anyway although I wouldn't know if it could be a moth one...

Been doing abit of reasearch thanks to your helpful identification to the possibiltie of it being a Glanville Fritillary ,pretty sure your quite correct I'm going to post the pic on a facebook identification web site now and see what happens.
I found them in the past quite useful especially after this incident this year locally to us:- (I've pasted from an old forum about what happened...)
"Geeze the otherday what a nightmare!!!
My self & Richie decided to go to Oxwich Bay for a spot of fishing, we had been told of a local walk to the beach through a nature reserve across marshland and through a forest about a 30 min walk tops...
Lovely walk in fact not a problem. We left the beach at about 7:30 in the evening and it was very humid and took the same walk back not that steep or challangeing for us at all tbh.
And OMG!!! disaster I could'nt breathe properly within 5 mins of the walk back! It lasted a good few hours was'nt right until about 11:30 that evening not being able to get a lung full of fresh air at all. Rich suffers from COPD and asthema he was able to breathe but had stabbing pains in his lower lungs for awhile
Rich ended up makeing me take one of his inhalers to open my lungs up it was that bad within 5 mins I could sort of get a good breath in else I think it would have been a trip to the hospital and I don't dooooo hospitals (when it's me involved!).
We had'nt eat, drank or done anything diffrent to normal other than walk through this forest and marshland... we are putting it down to a possible weird pollen allergy attack? there was allot of strange in seeding grasses and allot of cedar in the woods so I guess it's a big possiblity? I've never had a allergy in my life!.
