I made this today because my mum gave me a load of plums... never made it before, so haven't the foggyest what it will taste like:-
16oz chopped onions
16oz plums, stoned and quartered
16oz tomatoes, chopped
16oz cooking apples, peeled, and chopped
2 cloves of garlic, squished
1/2 tbspn ground ginger
16oz light muscovada sugar
20 fl oz malt vinegar
Plonk everything in preserving pan EXCEPT the sugar. Bring to the boil stirring occasionally, after 30 mins check all veg/fruit has softened then add sugar and simmer stir a bit more, until thickened. Spoon into sterilized jars. Seal. Leave for a month, use within 1 year.

How long did it take to mature Libby, it sounds lovely.
Libby
Erm? they have to mature????
No seriously I gave some out at Christmas and people where scoffing it then! So minimum 2-3 months I think!

As I was in the chutney making mood and I had last year very cleverly weighed and frozen some plums ready for making some more of this. I made some more of this
Kathy
Crikey Libby, you have been busy, your shelves will be groaning!
Libby
Due to all the ops I never made any so we have done well to last this long. I still have my favourite Spicy Apple chutney to make and I have decided to have a go at the banana and date one, I think hubby will love that!!!
