Autumn is coming...

...because early hours this morning I hear the first lot of geese flying over the house. They seem early this year. I love to hear them, it's got to be one of my favorite sounds and it means autumn is nearly here and I love autumn Very Happy

This season I will mostly wearing....
thermal tights,
boots,
suitable warm skirt....not your Sarah Raven type, how the hell she gardens in a floating skirt I will never know..
2 jumpers
gillet!

oh and my faithful old motorbike gloves....great in the garden!

As in much of the northern hemisphere, the climate seems a bit early here in the US. After several long weeks of draught and heat, we're into the cool nights of autumn, shorebirds are beginning to pass through on their way south and the days are getting noticable shorter. I get up without an alarm clock and while it is often before 6 AM all summer, its now nearly 7 before the sun wakes me.

One of the songs we sing in school..................

Autumn days, when the grass is jewelled
And the silk in a chestnut shell
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled
All these things I love so well

(Chorus)

So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Clouds that look like familiar faces
And winter's moon with frosted rings
Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the milkman sings.

Whipped–up spray that is rainbow–scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes go comfy though they're worn out and they're battered
And the taste of apple pie.

Scent of gardens when the rain's been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked–up engine that's been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team.

Just got back from the other side of the pond to have a look at Dave's place.

Can't linger any longer - right in the middle of a spot of gardening and now have to rush up allotment to put the girls back in the meadow.

We had an Autumnal morning, and summer early afternoon, and it doesn't quite know what to do now - a bit of rain.

Not ready for Autumn yet please - got 71 tomato plants laden with green things to ripen

Do milkmen still exist anywhere?..Anyone got one?

We have one in the village........

"I'm the only mikman in the villerrrrrrge"

LOL!
Haize

We've one, haven't decided whether to start using him yet though, as we have such random milk usage!

This morning all seems so crisp and cool. I love Autumn, the only problem is, I'm talking about the inside of our house! Really must fix the central heating... Laughing

I'm definately wearing my coat this morning, and my fingers are still chilly. Sure sign that I'm not working hard enough, I'm sure Wink

Oh, and the cat's newest favourite place to sit is on top of the computer, when it is nice and warm Very Happy
