Axe recommendationsWe need an axe, a long handled one for chopping large pieces of trunk into smaller pieces. Anyone got any advice?

You need a "maul axe" Kathy. Get them at country fairs or cheapie shops for about five to ten quid. Long nylon handle, heavy sharp head for splitting big logs effortlessly.

or you can get the wooden handled fireman's axe and really have a go at the tree and break the handle in two like wot i did
not a lot of difference in price
i am not a good log splitter i am afraid
the spirit is willing but the axe handle is weak

Hey Nansters nice to see you now you've finished washing Mr Nanny's socks!
Nylon handles don't tend to snap as much.
Is it raining, Nanny?
