Baked beansMake your own, much cheaper, healthier and kinder to the environment than tins. Cook haricot beans, make a rich tomato sauce, like a plain pasta sauce and there you have it. Freeze in small portions ready for quick beans on toast.

i used to make boston baked beans....haven't done so for a while but soon will again
haricot beans cooked with celery and bacon then drained and then an almost black sauce of treacle, tomatoe sauce and one or two other things is added, then they are baked in the oven at a low setting for a day or two till they are almost solid.....
unbelievably good......

The last lot of beans I made got left in the Rayburn overnight and all the next day by mistake. They were delicious, probably not unlike your Boston baked beans but without the bacon.
