This gorgeous person's been hunting on the hill next to our house for a couple of weeks now and last night, OH managed to get some photos (I was watching from the sitting room window)....

Fantastic photos
Whenever I see or hear an owl it reminds me of when I used to take the children camping when they were little. We used to go to a campsite called Forest Glade in the Blackdown Hills. Very quiet and at night the three of us would snuggle up together and listen to the owls calling to each other through the woods which surrounds the field we camped in.
Thank you Jellycat, I've had a lovely few minutes reminising (sp).

Lovely photos. We don't seem to have Barn Owls round here, but dozens of Tawny Owls who sit in the Ash trees behind the house and call to one another.

We hear tawny owls sometimes but rarely see them as they tend to hide in the woods down the lane.
The barn owls, however, do sometimes call as they fly over the house at dusk, and what a racket! They're not call screech owls for nothing! Penny is of the opinion that they're not owls but are, in fact, Very-Frightening-Lurcher-Eating-Monsters ... she's not very brave ...
Somewhere in the woods there's a Little Owl too - I've seen him just the once...
