Blackberry chutney! There's a bit of a glut of blackberries here at the moment, especially on the lottie hedges. I've frozen a pound or two, and started looking for alternative recipes.

I've just tried this one, tasted very nice when I tested it! The recipe just fills a medium sized kilner jar. I reckon it should be nice with game!

I like the look of the recipe, might try it but substitute the sugar, I make my chutneys without sugar now, we all prefer them that way. Should go well with a nut roast too!

Kathy, what do you use as a sugar replacement?

Dried fruit CP, whatever I have to hand. It takes a bit longer to mature and gets better the longer it sits. Coco and E don't take cane sugar, I wanted to experiment so they could have chutney if they fancied it. I posted a recipe on here somewhere.

There's a few no sugar chutneys in the preserving section, I've also had success leaving out the onions (E won't eat them!)

I've ordered seeds for a sweet herb called stevia which are going into a raised bed.
I've one plant at the moment, not enogh for chutney, but I use it and sweet cicley in puddings!
