Bokashi Bin

I have been doing a fair bit of research recently about the best way to reduce my kitchen waste. As you know I have looked at wormeries but have come to the conclusion that they are not for me.
This I think maybe the way forward for this household. Because once pickled this can either be dug in the ground or put on the compost.

Has anyone ever had/used/knows of them??
lottie

No - never heard of them - but have got Bokashi to feed to my chickens
lloyd

Not heard of them. To be honest all our waste goes either on compost heaps or in the dogs, chickens, or cats.

well not being the best compost maker in the world, I thought this would help as I have no cats or chickens. I've ordered some so will let you know how I get on  Very Happy

I've had it about 3 weeks now and I'm surprised how long its taking me to fill

you get two, once one is filled you leave it to satnd for 2 weeks then either add it to the compost or dig a trench in the veg bed and bury it!

I chose this as I can add cooked foods to it, this is the contents with the bokashi bran sprinkled on top. It is air tight and has to ne pressed down with a squasher thing. It does not go mouldy like it used to in this

and every couple of days I drain off the liquid and either pour it down the drains, to clean them or use it to feed the plants!!

Very neat I have to say, my bin gets filled up till it's spilling out onto the kitchen floor, then someone goes and empties it on the compost heap!
