BT

Argghhhhhhhh, I am so cross.  A few weeks ago BT phoned to ask that if I signed up to carry on my broadband for another 18months, then they would reduce by broadband by £3.00p per month and give me a free view box, and if I wanted to see any films then they would charge me £4.00p for each film, so I said yes and started up another direct debit.  We arranged that the box would be delivered to this address on the 10th April 08.  All the paperwork for this took three weeks to come, giving us no time to cancel should we change our minds. While I was in hospital, the box was delivered to our old address in Kent!!!!  The people were not in so it went to my old neighbour Jackie. Neil( my son) got a phone call from her and he tried to arrange something with BT.  Several phone calls later, he was getting nowhere as they needed to speak to me, but I was in hospital.  The operator cancelled it and said they would contact me again, and I must admit that I never did anything about it.  Today I have a bill for nearly £60.00p for a cancellation fee. Added to which they look like they will be charging me £4.00p a month for the films which I will probably never have.  On the letter that came they said it would be £6.00p they would charge.  I phoned the number on the back of the bill and they couldn't help, so they gave me a new number and they couldn't help!! Surprise, surprise.  They are going to phone me back within 24hrs.  Yeah right.  I think I will get onto the bank and cancel it.Why should I pay for their incompitance!!!!!!

Oh dear Janowl what a mess,I am with BT for my boardband and am tempted to go for their wireless package but after reading your problem I think I will stay as I am for the time being Confused hope you get sorted soon.

Can't stand BT and have had numerous billing problems down the years. They tie you to a long contract which you can't get of when things go wrong. You rarely get to speak to a person who can actually understand what you're saying (or you them).
I've been with DST since I moved here, a telephone and Internet package. If you need to phone them there's no menu and you get to speak to a real human being!

Of course that's of no help to you now janowl, hope you get the problems sorted out. I think there is an ombudsman who can help, perhaps someone else here might know about it.

My son sorted it out for me last night and they have now cancelled it ( or so they say).  How comes sons or any other male can seem to sort the problem out straight away???? Rolling Eyes  Shocked

Glad it's sorted Janowl, ridiculous that you had to go through all that in the first place.  Rolling Eyes

Fingers crossed it's sorted now.  But it wouldn't surprise me it's not.

I had a very nice letter from BT today saying that my freeview box will be delivered within the week arrrrggghhh. I got back on the phone and spoke to this very nice man, who tried to make me have it!!!  I explained that he could stick it, as nicely as possible, and he has closed the account again!!! and put on it NO MORE COMMUNICATION. I believe that when I see it. Rolling Eyes  Shocked
