How many people reuse their carrier bags now?
The culture is changing and it is more normal to see bags for life now but I miss having the spare bags at home for all the uses I used to put them to Crying or Very sad

I never take them back to the shop, as I always have uses for them here, like selling meat, and putting it in, so the buyer doesn't get freezer burn! or using them for bin liners.

I don't collect many now as I've been picking up proper shopping bags from the charity shops. The ones I do have get used for bin liners etc.

we use ours for emptying things like the bathroom bin.

Our local sainsburys gave away bags for life last Friday, so I now have three in the car for shopping ... just have to try and remember to take them with me ... Confused

I use mine for upstairs bins, but mostly for changing the cat litter and dog poopy scooping. Yuck.

I have a 'proper' foldable bag in my handbag and another 'proper' bag in the car, and a collection of plastic 'bags for life' for when I do the monthly supermarket shop.

So where do all the carriers bags come from that are in the tube thingy in the larder I wonder... Confused

I don't really have a use for them, but there is a recycling point for them in the local supermarket so I take them there when there are too many.

We use carrier bags (mostly biodegradable ones) in the bins and for nappy changes (putting the dirty cotton balls in). We have almost dwindled our supply of bags, which I've been collecting for years, so now when I go to the shops, I actually don't take a bag with me and put my shopping in a new ploastic bag. At least the local co-op has biodegradable ones.

i always re use my carrier bags either for rubbish or dirty footvball kit in.
when i go shopping i bye the big recyclbal bags but so many times i have gone with out them that i now have a cubored full of them but they are fab backs to keep re cycling in for going to the tip.

i always yse my canvas bags for shopping now...one is so large that we call it the tardis, you can get about 6 4 pint milk bottles in it and then load the top up with other stuff....only thing that stops you is the weight of it

rarely do i collect any plastic carrier bags now...

i have some turtle bags, made from recycled something or other.

hundreds of turtles are killed each year by plastic bags floating in the sea.

its just a case of remembering to take one or two bags with you everytime you go near a shop and politely refusing plastic bags Wink

On TV this morning, they were talking about charging for carrier bags, to reduce use. I was wondering if paper bags would be a better idea. They are really recyclable.

Has anyone ever tried cutting carrier bags into strips and knitting with them? Apparently, they make good rugs and shoulder bags.

I never have any spare, as I use them for collecting kitchen waste for the compost bin. I take the waste down the garden and into the compost bin, then use the empty bag to collect the days doggie poo off the lawn and pop it in the bin.

I was told in 1 shop that I HAD to take a bag, I said I either use my own bag or I'll shop elsewhere. I got my way with the assitants muttering under their collective breaths about "all these weird folks!"

I've got an old fashioned basket which always comes with me and if I know I'll need more I've got other shopping bags I can use.
Carrier bags do rot down fairly quickly these days and 1 article I read (I think it was Permaculture) said we should be looking more at what we're putting in the bags.

I spent a morning driving round using valuable resources trying to find a recycle bin for my wifes collection of carrier bags with no joy!

Our Tesco has a recycle bin for carrier bags on the way in.
