ChewingWhy do young dogs like chewing shoes?
No particular reason for asking.....

That is really weird.............I'm just chatting to my Mother on messenger about how Merlin chewed my slippers!

Err, is that into the shoes or the dog?

Shoes must smell wonderfully of the owners

kaz is right there and of course they are often made of leather, dogs love that as well
then there is whatever you have stepped in, that is always appealing to dogs
and finally as merlin told me once, they chew the heels off your shoes because they like to be tidy and don't like sticky out things that remind them of burrs in the fur............
£50 i paid for those shoes and he did for them in less than 2 hours

fofl.....
one of our dogs was at the chewing stage earlier this year. Even tho they are to be working dogs and live outside, when they are young we have them in the house to get acustomed to people, etc....she is 12 months old now.
anyway about march time she really chewed her way thru countless things, including the rungs on my kitchen chairs.....bless....
but the funniest thing she ever did was to give us summer wellies.......chewed the top of the toes off and left the rest of the wellies whole......
what a thoughtful puppy we had, letting our feet breath.......
