Christmas

Alison, can you get us sorted over the next few days. I keep starting things then gettting sidetracked and need a bit of help focusing.
Anyone else any tips for getting sorted for Christmas (apart from not spending too much time on forums!)?

Curses!  I knew I was doing something wrong....

I'm thinking one room at a time, give it a really, really good clean and then have a break to do something nice instead.  Trouble is, all the nice things are beckoning much harder than the cleaning  Laughing

I find it very difficult to keep on track also.  I do housecleaning as a profession, so I should be ok, but its different cleaning someone elses house !    I`m determined that my house will be cleaner and tidier next year though.  my 15 yr old son cleaned his room properly yesterday, and I think he really enjoyed it, I gave him the rug from the living room, as I`d bought a new one, and his room looks very cosy now. I just wish my daughter would clean hers.  Her room rsembles a farmyard, as she also keeps 2 rabbits in there  Shocked  Shocked

Could I recommend to you www.flylady.net.

I find it really helpful to keep on track, mainly when cleaning is a 4th bridge thing, it helps to get rid of some of those feelings against cleaning too.

It is also a personal organiser type of site, helping with time management, eg, write a menu, shop to your list, and save money as well as time knowing what you will eat, not rushing out for take away, or rubbish at 6pm as you have no idea what to prepare.

I am on a major clean at the moment, every room stripped right down, and there is only 1 reason for it.  I am not being vertuous.  DD has lost her nintendo DS, and I think it has been put "somewhere safe" and I can't find it!  Rather than ransack I have decided to empty every drawer, move every bit of funature to find it, and whilst doing so, clean.

I am in the play room at the moment, and am being ruthless.  No children helping, otherwise they would rescue too much.

Still haven't found the ds though.

ah - ds - i see now.

well we did the room of chaos yesterday. started sorting out the top of the chest of drawers over there (were we leave opened post etc), but didn't quite finish it. got coffee table and in the drawers (where i put things randomly when "tidying", but they are utterly stuffed now)

I have to be in the mood to 'bottom' the house but I tyr to keep up a good standard of cleanliness and battle with tidiness Very Happy My theory with the kids bedrooms is to keep the doors closed Very Happy

We don't allow toys in the childrens bedrooms, so they don't get too messy.  They have to bring their clothes down everyday, for washing, and they must make thier beds in the morning..
