crochet hatswell, I have made 2 hats for sophie and they are both too small ! I used the right size hook, so what went wrong ?

Did you do a tension square? Everyone knits/crochets to a different tension so the pattern is a guide really, especially if you also use a different type of yarn from the one specified on the pattern. You need to either use a larger hook or a thicker yarn by the sounds of things.
