Cross stitch sampler

This is the church kneeler that lloyd's mother was working on

Lovely especially as it is freehand and personal. I would like to finish it off as best I can and then frame it for Lloyd.

What a wonderful thing, so personal, I can't think of a much better gift. Very Happy

Lloyd's father just phoned from Ireland for a natter. Lloyd had gone to work so he had to put up with me. I asked him all sorts of questions about the sampler and hopefully they are coming to visit soon.

He thinks he knows what the quotes relate to, clearly biblical but I don't know where to find the complete verses.

Tell us the bits you have, and I am sure one of us will be able to find them. I can't quite read them from the photo.

OK here goes, have found it.

Book of Proverbs - Description of a worthy woman.

"An excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far above jewels(top left corner)
The heart of her husband trusts in her
And he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She looks for wool and flax (I like this one!!)
And works with her hands in delight.
She is like merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
She rises also while it is still night
And gives food to her household [color=red](Middle right but not finished)
And portions to her maidens.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
She senses that her gain is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
She stretches her hands out to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches her hands out to the needy.
(Missing some out now......)
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her househole ( (top right)

And does not eat the bread of idleness.

And so on.

I think it's beautiful. I wonder if there is a Proverbs description of a Worthy man.......................

Going to see if I have any threads that match. I may be some time Confused Laughing
