Dehydrator

I saw somewhere about dehydrators for drying and keeping tomatoes, apples and the like.

Anybody used one? and does the dried 'stuff' keep very long.

Seems a good idea rather than use up freezer space.

We've got one. Mostly I've used it for herbs (well, sage) and tomatoes. I put the tomatoes in jars of oil.

Really must use it more often!

We use one mainly for herbs, it's the "Equip" model and we've been pleased with it's performance so far. I've used it for apples but not tried tomatoes yet. If the stuff is dried properly then it keeps as well as any dried food you can buy. I purchased a book when I got mine as there's not much info in the instructions.  Smile

Lottie has one and uses it for all sorts. I always fancied one but don't really grow enough to warrent one Sad
