DeletedI've deleted 'Meals on Wheels'
Reading through it and then seeing that nobody had put a reply...I think I might have offended some people. That was definitely not the intention.
Reading what I had written made it seem that I did'nt care for my MIL...that could'nt be further from the truth. I've had years and years of trying to get her to eat decent food.....inviting her for dinner on numerous occasions, but 'she could'nt possibly eat with all the animals roaming the house!' I'll make sure that they are all put outside then...but knowing that they HAD been roaming the house put paid to her ever eating here again. She has'nt cooked for herself for years....probably about 14yrs...won't have a cooker in the flat! So the only route to go was meals on wheels because she has recently been dianosed as diabetic and needs to eat more sensibly....not just surviving on cold tinned soup, cold baked beans, biscuits and cakes.
Again I'm sorry if I upset anyone.

I was wondering, as I'd read that but then had to go do stuff, and it wasn't there when I went to reply.
I don't think it came across as uncaring in the slightest! You were simply trying to get something good to be done for her, which clearly shows you care anyway. The bureaucracy (sp?) surrounding something so essential to some people is rather worrying

It was meant to be a bit funny Haize.....probably more from my point than anything else. It's a very wearing situation....she has always been VERY eccentric...but then all the family just went along with all her strange ways...never allowing anyone who wore red into the house and under no circumstances would she let anyone in the house who lived on the council estate...apart from the daily help!!...and other strange things.
Doctor seems to think she has a personality problem, ie schizophrenia... he believes she's always had it...but people just thought her a bit odd and let her get on with it.
The major problem is there is only me who takes any interest in her. She has 3 sons, my husband, one who lives in Hampshire and the other one lives in Jamaica. My husband only ever goes to see her when I really moan at him. It's all left to me to make sure the doctor visits her (she won't go to the surgery...but that's another story) and get nurses out etc. I just get a little bit overwhelmed sometimes.

Sorry babe I've only just logged on.
Not allowing the Jade types in the house seems quite normal.

That's just the VERY tip of the iceberg Mrutty!!

I think my mother-in-law has a similar (but not as extreme) situation, even though my father-in-law passed away, she is the one who has a Sunday meal with her as often as possible, though her own blood relatives see her a mere couple of times a year. Strange how things work out like that, some people just can't live with their concience, knowing that they are not doing something to help.
You have to take what amusement you can from those kinds of dealings! Don't let it get to you too much, that permanent uphill struggle

I didn't get to see the post - was not on here at the time - but you have always come across as a very caring person.
I can not imagine for a single moment that any of your posts would have been taken the wrong way.
My heart goes out to you in your 'no win' situation.
