I have raved on about this website in other forums but it really is worth checking out! It is basically a site where you can advertise to give your unwanted items away for free rather than take them to the tip, so far I have got rid of an old dog bed and water butt and gained to chicken coops and runs, it has local groups all over, Just type freecycle into your search engine and keep recycling that junk! I just got another sewing machine from mine, and managed to rehome a broken scanner and printer. I've met some lovely people since I joined too, been in it over a year now and it has grown to 4607 members (Edinburgh). As Chickens says, it really is worthwhile joining.

So could you post the website address? I've tried looking at a few freecycle sites but they want you to register first. I'm afraid I'm a bit reluctant to register until I've seen the site first!!!!

Thanks Jerry. My local one says I have to join before looking so I'll have a think.

Plocket, you can't read the posts unless you register but I've had no problems at all with this. The messages are all simple, they either say
Offered - "Item offered"
Taken - "Item Taken"
Wanted - "Item Wanted"
in the subject heading, then the details in the main body of text.
There are lots of guidelines on how to use it with tips for safe practise. You can choose to recieve every single message or 1 message with a daily digest if you don't want too many emails.

I've seen everything from dogs to the kitchen sink offered, even skips full of rubble!

But I LIKE everything I own!!!! I don't want to start giving things away!!!!! I do give to charity regularly though so I'll have to see if I've got anything suitable. I'm sure I have really!!!!!

I have been given wool, knitting needles and demijohns, and have given away a noisy but functional tumble dryer (it lived in our house but the new owner had a garage it could go in), a dishwasher (again, functional but noisy and we have an open plan living kitchen type space, so it had to go), and today we gave away a bookcase.
It's a great system.

I love freecycle! I'm a member of the cardiff one, anything that reduces waste as far as I'm concerned is fantastic
