Friday 30th May

Morning all  Very Happy

It's damp and misty and warm here this morning - just the sort of day I'd like to go for a long walk (the air smells of greenery).  But I'm stuck at my desk with loads to do...I have to go into town this morning to pay some bills and visit the farmers market then home at 3.30 and back out to work at 5.30...at least I don't have to come and clean the office tomorrow morning  Very Happy  Very Happy

Have a great day everyone, and I hope no-one in the West Country has been swept away in the floods...
Kathy

Gardening Scotland event today, I'm off in 10 mns. Someone stole all the stuff we had for a packed lunch (for Coco and me) so I'm having to wait for more rolls to come out of the oven.  Rolling Eyes  Laughing

It's raining but looks to clear up, fingers crossed. Have a good day everyone and for the workers IT'S FRIDAY. Very Happy

JC - enjoy the farmer's market. Is it every week or monthly?

Kathy - food thieves. tsk. Hope the event goes well.

we've got a busy day. J is currently eating breakfast, because he didn't want it at breakfast time and has ever since been moaning because he's hungry! We've got to take a big box to the post office (if it's not been closed down yet) to get weighed. (I'll wear J and put the box in the pushchair!) Then we have to go pick up something from a freecycler. And this afternoon we will hopefully go see SIL and her two granddaughters and speak to my sis on the webcam at my parent's as today is the day she arrives back in the UK to live here permanently! I wonder how much of it we'll actually fit in.

Next week T's off work Very HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery HappyVery Happy so I might be too busy to do much but the occassional lurk.

Ooh - BB I just noticed Fahly's ad is up at last. He is gooooorgeous! He sounds wonderful too. Good luck with finding him the perfect home.

And talking of horses - Kathy - if that woman would be so careless as to kick a horse when trying it out, she's definitely not the right owner for him.

Well, my home town is in the news, and on the front of the Telegraph! Didn,t realise that the storm last night was so bad..We didn.t have the TV on last night,so missed the news.Anyway, the sun is out now.
Today was meant to be our day off, but our relief has hurt her back,so we now have a day off tomorrow.
Barrie has shot down to Axminster to take some paperwork to Tom,s solicitor, and has been to HFW,s shop for a look around, and bought some seeds.

What did Barrie think of the shop? I would love to visit but can't help wondering if everything would be very expensive.

Busy day so far, had to do some necessary shopping (which included some wool  Wink ) this morning then got home to walk the dogs which didn't go very well. Will post elsewhere.

Quick cuppa now then out to clean the chooks, then cook a meal before Lloyd goes off to do a nightshift.

Hope everyone has had a good day  Very Happy

hello all

better day up here though it showered off and on...lovely out there now and supposed to be a glorious weekend so plans are afoot to get loads more done

managed to get my slide show presentation on my lap top for the volunteer day, an achievement believe me and i pottered about rather uselessly in the garden this morning...was going to cut the grass out front but they stared working with the horses in the pen so didn't want to stir them up too much....chico in harness and in the pony cart for the first time and several in the round pen today

pleased to see that some runner beans i put in the plot are starting to come up at last as are some sweet peas....only have to fight the battle of the bugs now.....and slugs....and cold....and ants ......no pressure then

mr nanny off this weekend and we are off to town early for shopping and hair cuts then back so he can work on greenhouse 2 and i will get on with sewing more carrots perhaps and putting some of the pelargoniums out for the season....bit reluctant as yet to put the runner beans in but i shall soon have to take the plunge....along with some of the brassicas i have in pots....they still seem too small but the roots are starting to come through the bottom of the pot so just about time...

Only me and eldest here at the mo... OH and youngest are up country boat hunting its all very exciting.
Eldest has had yet another day crusing on the river well to be honest she has had a very hard week of dinghy training and if I do say so myself she is doing very well. She enjoys it and it has given her a massive confidence boost, not many at school sail and it seems to be her thing. The instructors have high hopes for her so watch this space, she'e still gt another 4 years until she's officially old enough to race.....well see.

So I walked the dogs by the river for an hour, done some, cooking and washing and some chick watching, another 2 hatched today so we are up to 12,tha will be the final count I think. I think one might have splay legs but we'll give him a chance.

Would also  be interested in a real opinion of HFW shop as I too expect it to be extortionately expensive. I know they say you get what you pay for but do we need to pay for his name? (Not sure)
Kathy

Can I show my ignorance and ask what the HFW shop is?

Absolutely cream crackered after my day in Edinburgh. It was nice to see all the different things but I'm not happy in crowds, especially when you keep getting elbows in your sides!  Well worth a visit if you fancy a day out, loads of informations stand too that weren't trying to part you from your money!
It rained for most of the day but it didn't seem to affect the amount of people visiting, Greenlady's stand gave away plenty of free herbal teas and business cards.
Photos in the gardening section.

Sounds like everyone else has had a good day, no catastrophies!

Off to bed now, YAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Kathy,HFW is Hugh Fernly Whittingstall of the River Cottage fame.
Everything in the shop was very expensive, and the shop was full of posh people with lots of dosh.I think that you pay for the name!
A 3 course dinner is £60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barrie bought a packet of Fennel seeds!(£1.00)
Kathy

Well he's certainly got a long winded name, does he do anything special?

Sensible Barrie by the way!  Laughing
Becki

he used to be a chef in London and gave it up to live in Dorset I think and do the whole 'Good Life' thing. Eats loads of weird stuff and keeps animals.
