This one is a checking one really, with a little writing down.
You proberbly will not get it done today, but think about it in the next few days, and pull the information out as and when.
Think about all your vital documents, driving licence, passport, credit cards, bank accounts, medical numbers, certificates.
Now organise taking a photo copy of the essential pages (back page of the passport etc).
Write down the essential numbers, sorting codes and account numbers.
Take two copies, and put one in a file, somewhere to hand, so the information is there when you need it, and can be added to.
Put another set, in a sealed envelope, and sign across all the edges, and seal it, and give them to another household to keep safe, or put in a safe.
You never know when you may need this. CD's of pc photo albums could go into this envelope too, also copies of a will. You get the idea.
All this security is for fire damage prevention.
As I said, you won't get it all done today, but it is amazing how far and wide this information spreads, and how inconvinent it is trying to collate it, in times of crisis!

That's a difficult one

Well really it is an ongoing one, maybe for May, Start a list and collacting sheet, on the pc, and as you find bits get them together.

Not an easy task, but a brilliant idea Alison
We had a fire in our office just over a year ago and lost absolutely everything, so I have an inkling of the inconvenience factor when there's just nothing to refer to...
I'll have a think about this over the weekend while I'm painting the kitchen...

That's a very important task and a good idea. A lot of my photos are on an internet server as well as the laptop. A copy of our wills are held with our lawyers as well. But all the other documents we have no copies of so it is something I must do, a good suggestion thanks Alison.
Just to add, if you have anything valuable in the house like antiques you should make sure you have photographs of it so that if an insurance claim is needed you have photographic evidence of it, or if it is stolen you can pass a copy to the police.

Good idea Leonie
Maybe we ought to be looking at a file with various bits of information in, to be had at a glance.
Passport numbers and copies in one see through folder etc, Then have the whole lot in duplicate, and keep a copy at a relative or friends house.

Really good ideas Ali and Leonie. This afternoon after the vets Linda's going to do this while I do ironing and housework to distract me., The photo's of furniture, antiques etc I can save to CD Rom and store it in my ammunition safe.
