Fungi forayWent to our local woods today on a hunt......came up trumps!!! We managed to pick about 20lbs of ceps and bay boletus!
Couple of pics of the first lot that we took back to the car...
A lot of them had chunks chomped out of them....but not a problem!!
This is a strange one.....had a thick gelatinous membrane covering it.
Now in the process od drying the edible ones....reckon it's gonna take hours in a very low oven.

agapanthus, have bought myself some books on identification before I go out for a walk with someone that knows what they are doing, I am interested to know what you identified that last one as...
Oh & I do realise that if in doubt, leave it out...

We've got lots of books on this subject....but the best of all is Roger Phillips mushrooms. It's a fantastic book.
We've also been out a couple of time with an ranger who's had many years experience. We would never eat anything that we could'nt 100% identify.
Have shortlisted the last one....Stubble Rosegill and the stinkhorn. They both have the gelatinous feature....both edible but the rosegill is easily confused with the deadly white spored Ainitas. Won't try it though!!!
