Gardens

How big is your garden and what do you have growing in it? I have a very small garden compared to the one in Kent, but i am trying to make the most of it, by planting lots of Bushes and plants around the outside, and leaving a little space for a small deck at the top with, i hope, a small pond, which i may not start till the spring now. I am waiting for the Bushes to grow so that they will attract the wildlife.

no garden, just a small yard. I'm moving in a couple of weeks and that house also has a small yard. Hoping to build some big planters and bring some life to it once the building work is finished. Got a lottie tho ... its fab

It's amazing what you can do with a small space. Plus your lottie. sounds good.
Aqui

Ours is about 25ft x 25ft. I've outgrown it now. There is no where left to plant anything!

We have a small wildlife pond, but it's days are numbered. Needs to go before next spring. A small veg patch (well weeds this year!) a big shed (too big really!) 4 compost bins, and lots of shrubs and herbacious perennials, including lots of Aquilegias.

It's a mess, even when I work it all summer, but I love it!

I've no idea how big ours is, but it's huge.

We have 2 greenhouses and a patch (allotment size) for growing things. There is a large shed and 3 patio areas. the kids have a trampoline and a swing set, and the chickens are down the bottom, by another brick shed. We don't have much growing right now, we havn't been here long, but it's a fantastic location, and I consider myself very lucky Very Happy

Mine is long and thin only 13ft wide!!! But I have managed to fit a heck of a lot in. Tropical plants, veg plot, pond, cottage garden bit, enormous shed, 2 greenhouses, 8 water butts, 3 compost bins, 2 patio areas and a bit of lawn oh yes and some chickens too!!
Lizzie

I've no idea how big our garden is altogether but it's a bit 'bitty' - we have a 'back' garden just outside the door with four raised beds, a greenhouse and a 'terrace' of stone sheds (which are falling down...). Then there's a bit that goes round the side of the house, which is path and flower bed, then at the 'front' of the house, there's the main bit, which is a small lawn and lots of flower beds.

Outside the gate, there's a vegetable garden, which used to be part of the farmyard that our lovely landlord let us have in exchange for the odd basket of produce Smile
Kathy

My garden is in bits too, about an acre and a half. Out the coal shed door leads to the dogs bit and the firepit area, lots of trees and an in situ hammock. The main door, which is the back door has my tomatoes and gourds plus a half erected greenhouse. Out of the posh front door there is a large area to the side we are using for composting and opposite the front door are dahlia's, shrubs, all sorts really. You can see some of the garden in this thread:

lottie

I have a corner plot - it is 100ft wide and varies in depth from 30+ft to 80+ and we have three bits of garden out the front of varying sizes and my 330ft x33ft allotment.

I would love to dig up one of my front gardens and turn it into a veggie garden - but I doubt that would go down well in front of a little modern bungalow?

I would get lots of Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil probably from the 'olds' who are older than me.

But when I grow older, and wear purple - then I might just Wink
Kathy

It looks lovely Aqui, I love the pathway. Lottie your lottie is amazing I've seen the pics on your blog. Smile

I have an "L" shaped garden which we have just extended by replacing a large old hedge with a nice new fence. I know it sounds bad to replace a growing hedge with a dead fence but we had dead cats and all sorts of litter thrown in and getting rid of it gave us an extra 15' x 100'

I guess the whole garden is about 60 x 100 minus the house and the veggie patch will be about 15 x 80

Not very big, but we got a fair bit out of it last year. This year we got a lottie so I shall have soft fruit and salad at home....and flowers!!

Thank you Caroline,

Im lucky that I live next to woodland, I just asked if I could have some logs and they said yes, as long as left most from each pile for the wildlife.

Then hubbly cut them in half lengthways so they took up less room
Becki

It looks like a lovely garden Very Happy
