I will add to this as I have time, everything is taken from the book "Garlic for Health" by David Roser of the garlic research bureau.
If you have any garlic questions, ask away, I'm sure I'll find answers in this book!
Garlic has been used as a medicine for more than 5000 years, written records and artefacts support this theory.
There are around 600 different species found virtually everywhere throughout the world.
For boils, carbuncles and abscesses the Romans mixed powdered garlic with goose grease and ashes from the fire.
Garlic kills bacteria, even some of the nastiest and potentially life-threatening forms. This has been proven by scientific research (there are details in the book as to how this was researched)
More to come.............

Oh I can taste it but only if I eat a lot. For example when I make Tzatziki OH says it burns, but I get a subtle tang from the garlic!!!!!

I have to have alot to taste it too, although I find I don't have as much home grown stuff because it tastes stronger.

I have to say, as much as i love garlic, part of my work is working with garlic and I come home at the end of the day really stinking of it, I'm going to have to get plastic seat covers for my car as coco is complaining of the garlic smell in there too... My use of garlic in cooking has reduced drastically since starting my new job...

You'll have to get Kathy to make you some coffee soap as that's meant to neutralise the garlic odour.

I'll ask her to make some! I have a complex system whereby I take a clean set of clothes, a head scarf to put over my head at the end of the day as my hair stinks and a skooshy bottle with nice smelly liquid in it so i can spray myself too! If I have to go anywhere public I get so embarrased and if I'm in a queue smelling of garlic I always stand as still as poss so that I dont create any draughts where people can smell me!

I eat garlic at least 3 times a week and touch wood i haven't had a cold for a few years. I swear by onions and garlic to keep colds at bay. I also love it in almost anything.

Mouth Ulcers and fungal infections of the mouth.
2 dessertspoons of natural yoghurt
crush 3 cloves of garlic to a paste and mix thoroughly with yoghurt.
Take 2 teaspoons of this mixture retaining it in the mouth and swishing it around the affected areas with your tongue.
It may sting a little but persevere and keep it up for a few minutes.
Repeat 3 times daily
You will also find some pain relief from this remedy and the condition should normally clear up within 4 to 5 days.
If this is a persistant problem please consult your dentist, there are many mouth conditions that only he/she can treat.

Thats a useful garlic tip, i'll save that one. I wonder if adding honey to it would make it more palletable but also have an added antiseptic quality?

I love garlic and put it into as much food as I can .Sometimes If im doing a spicy meal i have to gook two lots. One for me and a milder one for the rest of the family. I lve doing an eggfried rice and throwing loads of the stuff in .When we buy olive oil from the shops I top up my special bottle which is also stuffed with garlic gloves. When you take the top off the smell is wonderfull.

When I make pizza, I do a garlic pizza in place of garlic bread.....I spread the pizza base with crushed garlic (which i buy in a large jar from an asian food store as a backup ), sprinkle with garlic salt/ sea salt and a little grated cheese, then cook. It is truly yummy

One word of warning with garlic, it lowers your blood pressure so if that would affect you worth checking with the quack.

Good point - never heard that before and use a lot in my cooking. Even the chooks get it to stop their guano smelling!
Best check their pulse tomorrow
Seriously though, it was a good point as I really never knew that.
Thanks mr

By the way I don't suffer from low blood pressure. I eat it and take tablets of it, I used to have very high blood pressure.
