Glass painting

E has been doing some nice painted glass at school. A clear wine bottle, painted, then used as a candle holder, very effective and a good idea for *****mas presents.

Does anyone else here do glass painting?
Libby

My sister did, years ago and T did at school. Sadly it got really mucky so I washed it gently and the paint came off  Sad

We've got a rather splendid dragon that OH painted onto a scrap of mirror, buts that's about it.

Wasn't there a lady on the old Creative Living forum that painted glass?  Someone from Ireland?  Can't remember her name but I remember the pictures of her stuff and they were very pretty.  I agree Kathy - good you-know-what pressies!

That's the chap!  I wonder where she is now...

M dosn't go on any forums now, I don't think. We e mailed for a while and then lost touch.
Lizzie

That's a shame - I always thought she was very down to earth and creative.

I used to do it years ago - but haven't for ages.   I tend to go in phases with my arty crafty ventures.

I remember M, she had a mad partner who made a hat out of pea pods, it was brilliant!

I love painted glass so might have a go at this myself. I'd definitely need some sort of transfer though as I can't even draw matchstick men!

we used to sell the whole range of glass and cerimic paints in the shop we had so we became quite proficent at it as we were demonstrating at shows nd in workshops as well.
You can get paints that you can bake on ant they become wash proof, the one we sold was by Pebeo and call vitrial 160, as for the patterns, we used to have traced drawings and then put them inside the glass and gently inflate a ballon inside to hold it securely to the glass, worked for us.
Lizzie

That's an absolutely brilliant technique Pilsbury - I'll have to give that a go Very Happy   Thanks for posting it!
