Gorse Wine

I made some gorse wine a year ago - it was very fiddly to do, as you have to just use the petals - but the picking of them was delightful, despite the chill of the February day - one of those "forever memories". Anyway, we decided finally to taste it last night, and very pleasant it was too. Not a quaffing wine, but a sipping wine, with a very individual flavour.

Has anyone else made this?

I've never really paid much attention to gorse before, or made the wine but I've noticed up here it seems to flower all the year round. Can you post the recipe please as I might have a go. Very Happy

There's a fantastic black and white photo of my dad picking gorse for wine in the 60s, and my Mum helping, wearing a tiny, little mini-skirt! The spot was where I now walk the dog most days (on Torrington common if any of the Devon folks know it) and it always makes me think of dad to see the gorse flowers there. (Oh dear, gone all teary now)

I tried picking the flowers, but gave up when I relaised how many I needed, and the level of injury it meant! good on ya for doing it.

Will go and search for the book in a moment and let you have the recipe. It was worth the pain!
