Grill pan dilemma

What do you do with the accumulated grease?....We tried making fat balls for wild birds last winter, but that didn't appeal to them, so how do you get rid of yours?

If it's not too much, we give it to the dogs. Obviously not a good idea if they are overweight though Shocked

After a blocked pipe a few years ago due to 'fat'. I now pour all my waste fat and oil into a container, which then goes in the fridge and gets emptied into a carrier bag and put in the bin!!!!

Try melting a block of beef dripping, adding the grill pan fat and using that for making fat cakes for the birds - it works for us, even though they didn't like the grill pan fat on it's own...

Other than that, in the bin once it's solid.

i am much the same, in the bin with it, wouldn't give it to my dogs as their stomachs are not used to it...i wait till it's a lump and then it goes

I don't have this problem being 99.9% veggie household. The cast iron pan used for frying eggs, falafels and the like (olive oil) just gets wiped with a kitchen roll which then goes in the paper bin. On the rare occasion there is a wee drop of meat fat it goes in the dogs dinner. I did notice though that our recycling centre takes cooking fat in a special container.

Kathy, I think those are for deep fat fryer fat, which can then be converted to bio fuel. This stuff is out of the grill pan, bacon fat, burger fat, etc. I gave Toffee a little with herfood tonight and will wait to see what comes out the other end. Other than that, I'll try the fridge followed by bin idea. Cheers.
