growing squash in compost heap?

I've somehow ended up with 3 courgettes and 3 squash plants this year. I've planted all but one and have no where to put it, so I thought about planting it in a compost bin. I've tried googling, but it's not told me what i need to know.

I have 3 compost bins to choose from, which would be best? fresh, semi-rotten with lots of fresh grass on top or semi rotten and a bit full of sticks.

what else should i do with it?

my compost bins are made of pallets. and they are in a fairly shady part of the garden, only get evening sun.

what have you got to lose? I'd go with semi-rotten with grass. Make a hole pop some soil in to start with and it has 2 chances  Laughing

mine last year grew from the seeds I had chucked in with half a pumpkin we didnt get through and I only have the one darlek type bin, transplanted out about 14 plantlets and left one to grow on and got 3 good ized pumpkins off it, not bad for wild grown I thought.

pilsbury - i've got a few volunteer squashes growing in another compost heap, but it's not very deep and mostly full of bumble bee nests!
