has anyone started making christmas presents yet? I've been making jams of which some will be christmas presents. If anyone sees ideas for presents and tree decorations please post in this section so we can share ideas and inspiration. Very Happy

I have started thinking about christmas, but not actually done anything about it!
I am not in a crafty state of mind at the moment but am sure some inspiration will coma along.

Me!
socks
fingerless mittens...

Soap is next.

I wondered if people would buy yarn as a gift if it was sold with knitting needles and a pattern, perhaps in a little jute bag?

Leonie2

I've seen children's gifts like that n. I haven't bought anything like that yet because S isn't in to knitting and J is a little young still and hasn't got her co-ordination quite right so it would be a frustrating gift for her. Thinking back to those finger puppets that kathy posted about, it would make a nice knitting gift for a child if you included the pattern, wool, needles and decoration bits like buttons etc. Or a pattern for something easy and fun.

If I can master fingerless gloves then everyone will be getting a pair for christmas Laughing I saw these and think they're fun, each pair could be personalised for it's recipient

I love the brown coloured ones with the swirly hearts on them. Very Happy
n

That's very clever knitting them upside down, I know you can do it with socks, but I hadn't thought of mittens. It would give you a chance to do each finger in a different colour quite easily. They are very decoratable, aren't they?
The 4 ply I did for you might be a bit thin for this pattern, but I'll have a look at it later and see if I can convert my standard 4 ply pattern to be knitted upside down.

Leonie2

thanks n Very Happy if not don't worry, I will try your pattern the way it is. I can't remember if you've given me your pattern yet Embarassed

Christmas card stock has been sorted and we're just going through some new designs now. Bit of a mess coz it's all packed away due to the house move.

Need to start a list of presents required as I like to have everything sorted nice and early. If we've moved then it will be a 6 hour round trip to sort family presents out Shocked
Becki

Not for me it won't. ROTFLMAO Laughing

Bought a bottle of 'Croft Original' today in Somerfield, special offer £2 off. First bottle of booze put away Very Happy

Cabbagepatch

I've got an awful lot of good ideas, but other than jars of chutney, jam etc to add to homemade hampers, haven't done very much yet Confused

Well, it is only September!
Jellycat

Well it had to be done - the first bottle of Christmas booze is on it's way - Blueberry Vodka! I've done it before but it mysteriously evaporated not long after it was bottled Very Happy

1 pound of blueberries
3oz sugar
1 bottle vodka

Mix the lot together in a jar, give it shake once a day and after three months or so, bottle and try not to drink until Christmas.

I'm going to do the same with cranberries as soon as they appear in the shops, and with sloes once they're ripe. I can't abide gin, so all these will be vodka - I think you can taste the fruit better in a spirit that doesn't taste so strong itself.
lottie

I have schnapps and also blackberries in vodka now doing nicely.
Haize

I'd never heard of doing that until I found this forum!

Just talking about this with my OH, and he said how do you do chocolate ones? Most odd, I'm the chocolate addict around here.
lottie

I think that melted chocolate would solidify - but chocolate powder ? - you could experiment with just a small amount
mrsnesbitt

Well I have ordered some stock to make my Christmas Card orders up, so these should be well on the way by the end of the week!
lottie

Will you be printing them out D or embellishing them.

I don't want to copy any of your ideas - but would like to have an idea of the quickest way to make some - for my stall.
mrsnesbitt

Lottie, it has happened again...........we posted the same time!
See my posting in your section!

ooooooooooo music needed............a twilight moment!

Becki

I have got bits and pieces for some new christmas card designs I am hoping to try out.
lottie
