I can't believe it's started already. My nose isn't too bad, but my eyes are so itchy. I may have to wear one of those lampshade things as the urge to rub my eyes is getting very strong!

anyway - natural cures please?

I know the local honey one. And have finally found a source, but I don't really like eating much honey.

Any recipes for a soothing eye gel/cream?

I can't help with the cream - but I can sympathise .

My husband describes me as a 'nutcase gardener and allotmenter' so having hayfever is quite a nuisance.

The only cure I have found is to shovel fresh pig muck - It makes your eyes and nose water so much it soothes them

Or I could bottle up the smell where I spend a lot of time - my allotment is right next to the pig farm, and my particular plot is right opposite the muck mountain - it often is as tall as the trees and yards long

Greenlady will be along later, I believe there is a dog crisis going on, something to do with an abandoned Jack Russell.

I had a bout of hayfever earlier in the year (I usually get it just before the spring) and fingers crossed it's over with now. Not sure of a cure or remedy, I just stick with it until it goes but mine isn't very bad, just annoying.

Chamomile teabag over the eyes will help the itching.

I am one of those unfortunate cases that suffer so bad it can wipe me out totally, i even end up using an asthma inhaler, my doc says I am a lost cause as i dont do anything to stay away from the triggers ie. haymaking!

would wearing a nose and mouth mask help at all chickens? OH insists I wear one when soap making and cleaning out the hen run (now that bird flu is a threat). They are horrible though, I can't breathe properly with something over my face.

I do use one when I am working on my friends poultry farm, but always forget when helping people during hay making, I think I better wise up and keep some masks in the landrover

we always wear them when we are chopping straw, but I do find then that my glasses steam up quite a bit.

The dust in the filter is disgusting.

face mask - thanks for the reminder jesse - must get some of those for the soap making (i'm going to place my order later - at last!)

Trouble with those is my face is so small that to cover my mouth and nose properly, they also end up covering my eyes! (It takes some adjusting so I can see properly!)

chamomile and chickweed are excellent cooling soothing rememdies aqui, you could use them in a basic cream recipe, or an easier method would be making an infused oil with them. Drinking nettle and chamomile tea as anti-allergy remedy is useful, you would need to drink about 3 cups a day. If you addded in some local honey that would make it more palletable and have the added hayfever benefits you already know of.
Just ask if you have any more questions
