Heartburn

It seems to run in the family.......I have had to have tests which showed an inflammed stomach lining, my OH has heartburn on and off and now our 23 year old has come back from uni with tablets, medicine and blood tests or heartburn (that he never told u about).

this time last year, my OH was off work with it ( yep it was that bad ) he was in his final week of a month off.

he went to the doctors with it, got meds etc, then had tests, ( a thing down his throat yuk ) and it turned out to be two ulcers causing it.

It seemed it was his main job causing it. He works for the Welsh Assembly ( quite high up ) and the pressure was getting to him.

a year on, and he is still not well. he is still having tests from bloods to xrays etc but they cannot find out what is wrong with him ( apart from the ulcers which have healed now ), but they have found out that his white blood cells are too low, making him tired and weak, but do not know what is causing it.

all that started with heart burn 18 month ago........

I would suggest having a look at what you eat, how you eat it, and the combinations of food eaten together. Pastry and lentils together and I'm in agony running for the peppermint tea (can't take medicines). Acidic food like tomatoes cause it too. If I'm having pasta sauce I put a bit of rice milk in it (you can use milk or cheese) to counteract the acidity. Coffee is very acidic and raises stress levels (caffeine).
I'm not saying don't take docs advice of course, but they won't tell you to look at what/how you eat, just treat the symptoms.  Smile

I started to suffer with heartburn and it would wake me in the night very unpleasent,I started to cut out all high sugar and high fat foods six months ago,and have not had an attack since,I have also lost 10Lbs in weight so feel a lot better in myself as well Smile
nanny-now and forever

i have sufferd form it for years, wakes me up in the night if i don't watch it

i have found that if i take 2 anti-acid tablets when i go to bed, i have no problems....they don't have to be a brand name, just a bit of chalk

i wonder sometimes if i have a hiatus hernia but can't be bothered to find out as long as the pills are working..................

sorry Kaz  Embarassed

what i was trying to say was, there is an underlying reason we get heartburn. not the odd bout of it because whe have had either too rich or too spicey food, but continuous heartburn should be investigated.
my eldest daughter suffered too, after investigation she has something called reflux syndrone, easily rectified, and she suffers no more.
