Herbs

Herbs... what herbs are you growing at the moment and whats the main one you could'nt be without...???

My Main one is probably Parsley...

I'm growing at the moment:-

Pineapple sage
Tangarine Sage
Common Sage
Parsley
Lemon Thyme
Common Thyme
Red Thyme
Silver Queen Thyme
Orange Scented Thyme
Curry Plant
Chives
Garlic Chives
Summer Savoury
Bay
French Sorrel
Lavender

Basil is by far my favourite, I grow it but never have enough. I buy it and use it like a green veg, especially with tomatoes! Cool

Others I grow are;
Rosemary
Sage
Pineapple sage
Spearmint
Flat leafed parsley (a supermarket  survivor)
Bay
Chives
Oregano (dries very well)
Thyme
Comfrey
Lavender
I tasted lovage on my pal’s allotment the other day, now I must have some!

When I get allotment I shall grow many more; I am already growing cuttings for a rosemary and lavender hedge!

Good thread this, there's lots that I don't have and plenty of space, I can feel a garden shop trip coming on!
There's quite a few things popping up in the garden but no lovage. If you put some lovage leaves in when you are cooking beans it helps to stop the "windy" effects!  Laughing To my knowledge I have:

Lady's mantle
Yarrow
Motherwort
Lungwort
Sage ~(common)
Basil/tulasi
Peppermint
Spearmint
Anise
Thyme
Golden rod
Chives
Rosemary
Dill
Summer savoury
Libby

are Lady's mantle and Lungwort herbs?

I have rosemary as well,
Kathy

Medicinal herbs Libby, Lady's Mantle is brilliant for "women's problems!"

I have just looked at both in "Culpepers" (always an "interesting" read)

Personally, I don't want to go any further into "Lady's Mantle"  Embarassed

but

Lungwort: " Jupiter owns this herb. It is of great use to physicians to cure diseases of the lungs, & for coughs, wheezings, & shortness of breath, which it cureth both in man & beast. It is profitable to put into lotions taken to stay the moist humours that flow to ulcers & hinder their healing, as also to wash ulcers in the privy parts of man or woman.

It is an excellent remedy boiled in beer for broken-winded horses..."

Any use Nanny?
Kathy

Wonderful, wonderful, I love it!  Laughing
