HolidaysWith sincere apologies to all those that haven't had a holiday this summer.
With effect from NOW, I am on holiday for TWO weeks.
The worry is leaving no.1 son (19) in charge of house, garden and chickens

He will be fine CP. If he burns the house down he will have something to cook the chickens on
It is always a worry leaving the kids with the house but there comes a time when you have to start thinking of your selves. You and the OH go away and forget about home for a fortnight and just relax. You have the rest of the year to worry !!!!!
Happy Holidays

Have a great time CP and Lloyd!
I haven't had a going away holiday for years (actually the last time we went anywhere was 2 years ago - family weddings in aberdeen and suffolk - before that it was vienna, exactly one month after september 11!)
but t's off for the whole of next week - so i'll have a whole week of not changing any nappies!

don't worry about no. 1 son.....he will be fine....and so will the animals...
so he might not do any dishes till the evening before you get home and might just forget to do any laundry but other than that, i doubt that he will hae any crises what so ever.....
i can remember being left home with my brother when the rest of my family went to florida for 2 weeks...it was february and there was a lot of snow on the ground....my brother decided it was too cold to work on his motor cycle out in the garage so he brought it into the living room and stripped it down in there..........the smell of petrol was so strong that we had to sleep with the windows open or die of the fumes....we never told my mom of course.......

My 20 year old nephew is dog sitting for us while we go down south for a couple of days at the end of the month, so I'll join you in the worry corner CP. I'm sure they'll all be fine, but.....

when i first left mine to go on holiday it was a big worry.I left them loads of simple foods in tins, and pot noddles When i returned it was fine.It got easier each year. Now he's 25 i don't leave any easy meals i think its time for him to learn to cook He made chilli, but said it was awful nothing like mine( snigger mines awful too )My Daughter 24 is married so use to cooking
So in all a good learning curb but may produce you with a few more gray hairs.
As for chicken well.............
