is it to the top or bottom of the knitting needle? And should I take into account the casting off row?
I can't find the answer on google and mum is away this week!
I've knitted about 9in (it's only taken me 3 days!) and it's supposed to be 9.5in!

I measure from the bottom of the knitting to halfway up the stitches on the knitting needle. I'm not sure if this is the correct way but that's how my Granny taught me.

Hmmm 9.5 inches - that sounds familiar (are you on the bottom, the sides or the cable band Aqui?!)
I measure to the top of the 'fabric' i.e. the end of the tape is against the bottom of the needle. I don't think it's an exact science....

Hi Aqui. I'm Janowl, and just this minute joined your lovely forum. I have been knitting for years, and i have always measured to the last row underneath the the knitting needle. I'm probably too late for your answer, but that's one reply under my belt anyway.
