I am so fed up

I need a rant. My horrid horrid car.

The dashboard went blank, it's digital, can't see a thing. Phoned the warrenty people up, its not covered. Took it to the garage, said they would have it 1/2 day. 3 days later i get it back, it's nneded a whole new dashboard unit it because it's completely burnt out. It's in French. I have to convert KMph to MPH. It's going to renault on Tuesday. The garage I took it to asked renault in the first place if it would need converting and they said no. They have no courtesy car and i'm going to be stuck in Barnstaple all day. To top all that, I've translated a warning message on it and it says it's not reading the tyre sensors. And it's reset the milage back to 0. If they can't fix that (because it's probably illegal) then no-one is going to touch my car with a barge poll.

Rant over, had to let it out, sorry Embarassed

Asked Ade about the milage and that is correct. You just have to say it had a new dash and the previous milage was .... and it will have to be added on.

My neighbour said he had the same problem with his Laguna so now am abit worried as we have just bought a Laguna estate!!!

Never ever buy a Renault. Cars are bad, garages are bad.

(I loved my Renault)
I think cars of any make can be trouble. Until we could actually afford to get a brand new car with a full warranty we always seemed to pick the 'rogue' second hand ones where if anything could go wrong it would Sad
The first new car we had was an R-reg micra which is still going strong (touch wood) for our daughter on over 100 000 miles (petrol engine).
The next was a renault scenic which I loved - I dislike the ford fiesta I have now Confused
alison

I love my fiesta!
Becki

I love your fiesta too! I was saying to V, that yours is a L reg and still going strong and mine is a 53 plate and I wouldn't pee on it if it was on fire. I'm begging him to get rid of it.

I have a Ford too Ali, an old Sierra Saphire and i wouldn't swap it for a kings ransome, it just keeps going and going. Last MOT. 1 wiper blade, nothing the year before that and so on. Wink Laughing Cool Fits me like a big glove. Wink Laughing Cool

Our Toyota had a new milometer and was reset to 0 - it's all perfectly legal (but in km and not miles...)
Leonie2

Laughing you know what I said to you the other day about also having car trouble, you'll never guess what make my car is Rolling Eyes

Hope it all works out in the end for you Becki, must be very frustrating Smile
nanny-now and forever

i have to say that i really, really hate cars, any car

we always ended up with the car that went wrong big time - hundreds of pounds worth of big time

we finally decided to buy a ford ranger because you can get the parts in woolworths if you need them and touch wood we have had hardly any trouble with it other than needing to get the air con recharged and buying a knob for the dashboard

we had a renault once and it was fine until we took it to scotland and then something or wother went wrong and boy did it cost a load of money

i hate cars.......................

Our van is a Renault Trafic, and it's on 183K now and still going, although the body is starting to look, how shall I put this, shabby chic . . .! It is terribly underpowered and can't pull the skin off a rice pudding, but we've had some lovely holidays in it and you can sleep in it at a pinch - up to 3 laying down - the others would have to be upright! Spares are pricey though, but we have found a place that advertises in the Yellow Pages - up in Accrington, Lancs it is - and they even managed to supply quite big bits for it through the post. We are nursing it along for as long as we can, but at least we have the Fiat Doblo now, and that is BRILLIANT - not sure about spares yet though . . .

Cars, hate them, they just make traffic jams.

I drove a Fiesta for years and it was very reliable, got us to Devon and back several times, laden to the roof with camping gear, children and dogs. Didn't move very fast but then, neither do I!

Driving about in a renault something or other at the moment...... would really like a Morris Traveler Cool

I have a vauxhall cavalier that i love, Bought it of a mate who bought it off the forecourt and it is a fantastic car that only needs a little TLC everynow and then.
On the other hand i have had my share of dodgy motors that needed a few hundred qiud shoveled in at regular intervals
