It's not our fault...For goodness sake - apparently, obesity ISN'T the fault of the individual...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7047244.stm
and scientists are developing new 'foods' so that we can continue to eat whatever we like and not get fat...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7047428.stm
I'm absolutely not getting at anyone here, and I know that some people have real health issues that mean they ARE overweight through no fault of their own, but I read these stories this morning whilst having to listen to a more-than-twenty-stone man in our office eating THREE bags of crisps, a couple of kitkats and drinking coca cola for his breakfast....
Are we not expected to take responsibility for our own health any more...?

we seem to have little responsibility for any aspects of our lives now from what I read in the newspapers and hear on the news.
In my opinion today's society is sadly lacking in common sense.

I always knew it wasn't my fault

One of the first tenets of "self healing" is taking responsibility but the "big boys" have no intention of letting us do that as it means less power and money for them. There are a select few at the top of the tree who want to control every aspect of our lives (look at all the new laws that have come in latley and are still coming in).
Sorry if I sound fanatical but that's the way I see it, big brother is watching................................

Fish, did you not see the bit in my first post when I said

I think your post is unnecessarily rude and unpleasant.

Thin ice fish, very thin ice.
I am very proud of my children and the fact that I have never claimed a penny from the state or anyone else for their upbringing.
Perhaps those that have several children they cannot support without benefits are who you are referring to

Please can I remind you all the be understanding and respectful towards each other. Everyone has their own opinion and view on life issues, these may not be the same as each other and that is okay but remember to be respectful of other peoples situations and views even if they are different to your own. This thread does not represent an opportunity to direct personal insults at each other.

Bit off topic, aren't we?....We were talking about recent media interest in the recent public phenomenon of mass obesity. I was listening to the Vine show the other day discussing the same subject, and most obese callers accepted responsibility for their condition whilst a few said "it's not my fault, I can't help eating all this rich and fatty high calorie intake. "
Historically with active lifestyles we would consume those calories but these days the story is rather different.
