It still pays to pass the time of day...

At least once a week I take time to have a wonder around our local charity shops looking for this & that, & passing the time of day with the volunteers.

I wondered into one yesterday (while getting a bit for the shower (see other thread)) & picked up a book by Baroness Orczy
(not one of the Scarlet Pimpernel ones unfortunately) when I took it to the counter I had a conversation with the elderly lady & her friend about the books written by Orczy & how difficult they are to get hold of.
They asked me if in the future I would like them to put by any Orczy books that come into the shop to look at before they go on the shelves.  Very Happy

The second was today when I was out with my daughter "Flute" who had spotted a bag in the window of a different one that had just closed, the lady was still in the shop & came to the door, daughter got the bag & was happy...

I have found there are good charity shops and not so good!
In our local town, its very rare to get anything, in Chippenham, there is a high turn over so always new stuff in. Marlborough you get all the 'designer' stuff. But my most favourite place is Devizes where there are at least 6 charity shops and I nearly always get something from here!
