Lace weight wool

I bought this ages ago, and tried doing a shawl but kept going wrong, as I would lose track as to where I was!!!!
T has bought a most beautiful dress for K's 21st and the wool I have would go really well with it, could I use biggish needles and just do a garter stitch to make a stole with it? Then add a bit of a fringe affair or something. Or does anybody have a better idea? Very Happy

I have a shawl pattern, this pattern is easy, it just repeats itself over and over but looks stunning when finished.  If you then put a safety line in every now and again this will save you unpicking everything if you go a bit wrong.  It's a reasonably quick knit and you can do as many repeats as your yarn allows you.

Or, how about doubling the lace yarn up, I would have thought you probably have at least 1200 metres and then use the thicker needles, perhaps making this scarf pattern which you can increase the width to make it into a stole.
I also have this pattern that you may borrow.

That's a lovely shawl Jacky - I'm not sure I'd have the patience for something so delicate....

Libby, I'm sure a bit needle stole would work very well - it would make it sort of lacey automatically wouldn't it?

I do like the scarf pattern Jacky, but I'm hopeless at holding patterns in my head, so I read the pattern and then forget where I was Rolling Eyes  not alot of hope really.
I may have a go at a 'large scarf' probably about 2ft wide and quite long and see how I go, I'll try and get it started before we get together Jacky Very Happy  then we can decide if it will or if it won't Laughing

If I can't keep a pattern in my head I write a script sheet out with the rows and then lots of columns with each repeat and tick each row off, it takes time at the beginning but saves so much time/temper and headaches later on.

That is pretty, very effective doing it on the larger needles.  Smile
